The U.S. prospered through geographic isolation and two world wars even as it regularly descends into race-based political chaos due to a historical legacy of internal chattel slavery. Its foreign policy is founded on militarism, the major force in advancing global economic hegemony over all competitors.

Anthony Gronowicz is a Professor of history at City Unversity of New York. He is author of Race and Class Politics in New York City Before the Civil War. Gronowicz was the Green Party candidate for mayor of New York City in 2005 and 2013. Gronowicz is a critical historian of American foreign policy who challenges the potted historical narratives through marshalling documented evidence that culminates in vivid and unconventional interpretations that are unknown and challenge standard perspectives.
